Matthew Mulrennan comes to XPRIZE with seven years of interdisciplinary experience in ocean research, environmental advocacy and conservation. He is excited to bring his passion for the relationship of ocean and energy issues to the Wendy Schmidt Ocean Health XPRIZE.
Prior to joining XPRIZE, Mr. Mulrennan worked as a marine scientist at the conservation organization Oceana, based in Washington, D.C., where he advocated for policies to promote clean energy, and communicated the threats to marine life from ocean acidification to the media, public and policymakers. He has also worked for a congressional campaign, grassroots climate change advocacy, marketing for a residential energy-efficiency software tool, and as a researcher at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
Mr. Mulrennan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Miami University and a Master’s in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego.
