Google Lunar X PRIZE Team Summit 2012
Every year the Google Lunar X PRIZE hosts a week long event called the GLXP Team Summit. The SpaceX Dragon: Industrial Innovation’s Sputnik Moment
In 1957, Russia launched the unmanned satellite named ‘Sputnik’ into orbit. Today, we refer to it as America’s ‘Sputnik moment’ – an acute realization that something was changing in the competitive landscape that put a country’s future at risk. We started generating prize ideas and found the whole conversation a lot of fun and refreshing.
My First FIRST: The FIRST Robotics World Championship
It’s the night of the big game. From the locker room you can hear the crowd maintain a steady roar that almost hums like television static in the background. You’re focused and your mind is in the zone. Final preparations are made before you finally take that slow-motion walk out of the entry tunnel and set foot on the stadium floor to a crowd of 20,000+ people, each one of them waiting intently to see what you’re capable of. This is the big show.

The Robots of the Sea
What happens when you cross the intelligence of a dolphin, the efficiency of a manta ray and the playfulness of a sea otter? You’ll get the next generation of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), as envisioned by some of the greatest minds in ocean science and exploration during the “James Cook” X PRIZE advisory meeting on March 23rd.
