James N. Gianopulos

James N. (Jim) Gianopulos is chairman and chief executive officer of Fox Filmed Entertainment. Along with Tom Rothman, Jim manages all feature film and television production and marketing, global distribution through all windows and platforms spanning the theatrical, broadcast, cable, home entertainment, digital and mobile markets. He is considered a leading strategist in the film and media industry.
During Jim’s tenure, the studio has released a broad range of successful films including “Taken,” “Marley & Me,” “Night at the Museum,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Walk the Line,” “the Star Wars Trilogy,” “Live Free or Die Hard,” “Master and Commander,” “Minority Report” and “Moulin Rouge.” The studio’s digital animation division Blue Sky Studios produced the classic “Ice Age” series, Dr. Seuss’ “Horton Hears a Who” and “Robots.” Fox Searchlight Pictures has produced critically acclaimed films such as “Slumdog Millionaire,” “The Wrestler,” and “Juno.”
Prior to his current post, Jim was President of Twentieth Century Fox International where he simultaneously releasing four of the five top grossing pictures of all-time internationally: “Titanic,” “Star Wars,” “Independence Day” and “Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.” Jim also held senior management positions at Paramount and Columbia Pictures following a distinguished career as an entertainment lawyer.
He is a governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, a member of the Board of the Motion Picture & Television Fund, and a trustee of the American Film Institute. He also serves on the National Entertainment Advisory Council for the Anti-Defamation League and The Brady Center. He has served on Honorary Committees for The Fulfillment Fund, The City of Hope and the Multiple Sclerosis Society for which he was the 2001 honoree, The Help Group, which honored him with its Humanitarian Award in 2005 and the Alliance for Lupus Research. On April 2, Jim was honored for his service at the MLA (Mentor Los Angeles) Partner Schools Promise Gala.
