Launching the Congressional Prize Caucus
By XPRIZE on October 28, 2015
On October 6, 2015, XPRIZE joined several innovation leaders on Capitol Hill to celebrate the launch of the first-ever Congressional Prize Caucus. The mission of the Prize Caucus is to increase awareness of incentivized problem solving and to amplify the government’s role in future prize competitions. Joining XPRIZE were current and former competition teams SmartFin, Masten Space Systems, and pHFine Scale, each of which stood alongside representatives from the White House, USAID, and NASA to showcase their prize-winning technologies to government officials and federal agencies.
XPRIZE applauds the leadership of Congressmen Randy Hultgren and Dan Lipinski in the formation of the Congressional Prize Caucus to leverage the power of prizes and encourage their fellow legislators, and federal agencies, to utilize the prize model as a solution to some our nation’s toughest problems.
“Prizes are a win-win for Washington: they drive American innovation by coupling unique government resources with the everyday ingenuity and entrepreneurship of citizen innovators,” said Christopher Frangione, Vice President of Prize Development at XPRIZE.
XPRIZE has an ongoing educational program in Washington to work with policy makers on the important role policy plays in spurring innovation and share best practices. We are committed to ensuring prizes thrive as a tool to incentivize disruptive ideas to bring about dramatic breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity.
