Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer’s disease is 100% incurable and 100% fatal. It affects nearly half of individuals over 85 and their families. The number of cases is soaring, and the disease could become the physical, emotional, and financial sinkhole of the 21st century—unless it is stopped. Our bold vision is to design a revolutionary worldwide challenge that will incentivize ingenuity across a wide array of disciplines and sectors and leverage exponential technologies that will make Alzheimer’s disease a thing of the past, opening a door into the Human Brain 2.0.

“We believe in increasing health and decreasing human suffering. Alzheimer’s disease is the ultimate thief—robbing families and communities of financial resources and stealing away people’s memories, abilities, personality, and ultimately their loved ones.

The Alzheimer’s Disease Impact Proposal is vitally needed work because humans are living longer. If we live long enough, we will all experience cognitive decay. We need to match brain span to life span. The future belongs to the generation that fully decodes the mysteries of the human brain. Work in the Alzheimer’s space paves the way not only for a Nobel Prize but for healthy minds to become better. If we can cure Alzheimer’s, we can upgrade who we are as a species. That is a future worth working for."
