Diane Murphy is President of Aquarius Group, a multi-disciplinary public relations/public affairs firm, with principals in Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Santa Fe, and Paris. The firm specializes in supporting business initiatives through targeted marketing, communications campaigns, political advocacy, and event management. Murphy has also served as Vice President of Marketing/Communications at SpaceX, the leading player in the next generation of spaceflight; EADS North America, the world’s second largest aerospace and defense company, and Northrop Grumman Corporation, America's second largest defense company, where she led communications for their Space Technology Sector. Murphy has worked with the XPRIZE Foundation since its inception, and has also supported the Foundation as Executive Vice President for Marketing/Communications and Public Affairs.
Murphy began her career in the US House of Representatives as a press secretary to the Republican Leader and subsequently joined the political consulting firm of Smith and Harroff, where she managed political advertising and communications for more than 30 political campaigns, including those of Senator John McCain, Governor John Sununu, Senator (later Secretary of Defense) Bill Cohen, and Representatives Olympia Snowe and numerous initiatives and campaigns in the areas of defense and energy.
Murphy is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and in addition to the XPRIZE Foundation serves as a trustee of the Washington Space Business Roundtable, Youth Service America, and the Dashew International Center for Students and Scholars at UCLA. She resides in Manhattan Beach, California.
