Today Show Features Google Lunar XPRIZE

XPRIZE’s CEO Marcus Shingles appeared on the Today Show on Friday to highlight some of the finalists in the Google Lunar XPRIZE competition.

“We’re trying to spark innovation,” Shingles said on the show.

To win the $30 million prize purse, teams must design a rover that can land on the Moon, travel 500 meters and send back high-definition video and pictures.

“The Moon is the hub for space exploration,” Shingles said. “We can use it as the launch pad to the rest of the universe.”

The Google Lunar XPRIZE is featured in the current issue of National Geographic.
