The future of aging is not just about living longer—but living better. XPRIZE Healthspan is more than a call for new therapeutics; it’s a call to reimagine our relationship with aging itself. This 7-year, $101 million global competition is incentivizing the development of therapeutics that restore muscular, immune, and cognitive function by a minimum of 10 years—with a goal of 20 years.
Our competing teams have already been hard at work developing therapies and strategies that don’t just react to illness once it strikes, but focus on proactively restoring function—especially in the systems most critical to healthy aging.
The XPRIZE Healthspan Innovation Landscape Report presents a snapshot of these innovations that target the upstream mechanisms of biological aging. This report reflects data from teams who completed their Qualifying Submissions by January 2025, offering early insight into the therapeutic strategies, scientific innovations, and unmet needs that are shaping the next phase of the competition.
The report also includes insights from teams pursuing the FSHD Bonus Prize in an effort to restore muscle function in individuals with stable Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD), a condition exacerbated by aging.
These findings offer a data-informed view of the innovation landscape and a preview of where the field is headed as teams prepare for the competition’s Semifinals and Finals.
Aging is inevitable—but decline doesn’t have to be. Together, we’re forging a path toward personalized, scalable, and accessible solutions that redefine what it means to grow older.
