On November 8, XPRIZE Carbon Removal hosted its third team matchmaking webinar. Twelve exciting teams working on ocean alkalinization, algae farming, biochar production, and more signed up to pitch a 2-minute overview of their carbon removal solutions and the specific skill sets they are looking to recruit on their team.  

These teams are looking for talented individuals across engineering, plant genetics, marketing, CSR investments, legal, fishing, farming, finance, construction, and more. Healthy Soil Biomes Alliance 

Healthy Soil Biomes Charitable LLC is a not-for-profit: FOR THE WORLD organization that has technical, engaging, and empowering solutions to positively impact our health, bodies, and livelihood. For millions of years nature evolved soil biology to support plant growth, unfortunately conventional agriculture killed most of this soil biology. 

One of their Alliance Members, the Center for Regenerative Agriculture and Resilient Systems at Chico State University, California has developed Biologically Enhanced Agriculture Management (BEAM) methods that will allow farmers, ranchers, gardeners, food consumers, and underdeveloped communities to thrive! 

The low-cost, easy to implement Johnson-Su bioreactor (a main component to BEAM methods) creates a no turn, aerated, cake texture inoculant that grows the diverse bacteria and fungi that are the foundation for kick-starting healthy soil biomes. Increasing the diverse microorganism community in the soil allows for more CO2 sequestration, which in turn increases crop, produce, yield production, eliminates the use of oil-based fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides, increases profits for farmers/ranchers, increases an abundant nutrient dense food, and increases water absorption to 5x more than previous storage.

GreeneX suggests capturing CO2 through the use of massive algae plantations or other aquatic plants cultivated on the drowned disturbed areas. After living up to its maximum capacity, the plants undergo the process of pelletizing on the local mining facilities and are buried in the form of dense granules, which is a more resource-efficient way of sequestration.
